Welcome to my Saturday breakfast. There is something about Saturday mornings that mean a no fuss and easy breakfast. Am I right?
It is okay that last night you indulged at a restaurant your friend is a chef at and he hand picked the bottle of wine you shared, suggested some amazing dishes and then also made sure you had a night cap, which happened to be a new and very tasty bourbon. All while a man with his guitar is playing covers of everything from Prince to Johnny Cash.
All of this is just fine. But now that you have crawled out of bed you really need to get the day started and what better way than breakfast.
A quick breakfast, to me, is a bagel. Toast it and throw some cream cheese or other toppings on it and you are set. If you are someone that skips breakfast I want to speak on behalf of your metabolism and say that you need to eat breakfast. Whether a protein shake or bowl of cereal. You need to get your body fueled for the day.
They don't say it is the most important meal of the day for nothing.
What I made here is probably one of my favorite breakfasts. Yes, okay, you are right, it took a little more effort than slathering cream cheese on a bagel but it is worth the small effort.
Everything on this bagel compliments each other. Its the combination of the creamy avocado (and cream cheese) to the fragrant basil and the sweet and salty symphony of the agave nectar and cracked salt & pepper.
There is something very familiar about eating a bagel and there is something new and delicious about adding a fresh herb and a tinge of something sweet.
No cooking involved here. Just simply breakfast.
Happy Weekend everyone!!!
